Name of your website?Mostique - Bedroom Canopies & Mosquito Nets
Your name?
Angelina
Your Location (city, etc)
Central Coast
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I was looking for a great product that combined my love of interior design with something that was affordable for everyone.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
My first website is http://mostique.com.au - I sold Bedroom Canopies, Princess Nets & Mosquito Nets
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I wanted something elegant that suggested the use of product. I choose Mostique - do you like it?
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
We took a lot of time to find great products, hired a professional photographer to capture the beauty of the products and a skillful web designer (http://webworld.net.au) to turn my vision into reality.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
I want to grow the brand and add new items such as custom made bedroom furniture.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
So far, so good :-) It's been a great success.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
Right now, I wouldn't change a thing. I've got everything that I want - and I can run my entire web business from my Blackberry. I can manage orders, keep notes, run special offers, amend products and more - all from the palm of my hand.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes, we have a great team.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
The website took longer than planned, it's a tricky job getting everything right. But the biggest headache was taking the photographs - we bought lights, cameras and hired a studio. It didn't work. Finally, I interviewed a range of photographers - and found a great one.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Cashflow is always a killer. You have to buy a lot of stock to get great prices, but that ties up funds.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
eBay, Google and places like this :-)
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Answering questions from customers takes more time, but we've got it spot on now. Everything is running smoothly.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
The site started a few weeks ago, so far we don't see any problems with keeping it going.
