Home Décor: Embellishing the Room Enough

By KeywordPerformance at 11/20/08 11:32

With just furniture and painted walls, a room can look bare. To add some detail and decoration, décor to a home or restaurant can elevate the dining space. But, at the same time, too much décor can be over powering and will saturate the room with too many intricate patterns and designs. In a sense, décor is like accessories in fashion – an embellishment that should not overpower the rest of the outfit. But, instead of a purse, earrings, a hat, or pin, décor for parts of the home, including the dining room, garden, and kitchen, consists of tablecloths, placemats, dishes, and decorations for the dining space.

A Different Kind of Restaurant Planning

By KeywordPerformance at 11/20/08 10:17
Restaurant furniture is usually variations of tables and chairs, with more elaborate furniture or smaller or larger tables depending upon the formality and need of the restaurant. However, in the case of a lounge, where the primary food being served is alcoholic drinks, the furniture can differ, being casual but still upscale and chic. Similarly, outdoor restaurant furniture can vary depending upon the food being served but is often made from different materials than traditional restaurant furniture.

Finding Appropriate Restaurant Furniture

By KeywordPerformance at 11/20/08 09:35
Choosing restaurant furniture is much like choosing bar furniture but on a larger scale. Different types of furniture are best for different types of eating spaces. For example, the furniture for a cafeteria should differ from furniture for a banquet or café, as the food and group sizes are clearly going to be different. Both brick-and-mortar and online stores carry specific restaurant furniture and, if you are starting a restaurant or remodeling your current one, visiting one of these stores would give you an overview of the different types of restaurant furniture possibilities.

Dinette Set Dilemma

By KeywordPerformance at 11/19/08 15:08
What, exactly, is a dinette set used for? It is too informal for a fancy meal or gathering but is more intimate than a regular meal at a table or restaurant booth. But if you’re looking to design a restaurant or want a smaller eating space at home, a dinette set can be a better option for dining than a large table and chairs set.

Dinette sets come in two varieties mix and match and matching dining sets. The difference is self explanatory; a matching dinette set often has the same wood or metal work for the table and chairs, while mix and match pairs chairs with a table that blends in by color, design, or type of material used. Often, a mix and match set will have a standard metal and glass or wood table paired with a more elaborate-looking set of chairs. Typically, a dinette set will have two or four chairs with a smaller-sized table.

Designing a Bar: Picking Out Bar Stools

By KeywordPerformance at 11/19/08 14:27
When you think of a bar, what images do you think of? A seedy dive bar with worn upholstered stools, dark lighting, and a discolored counter? A modern bar with futuristic-looking bar stools and a metal or glass counter, with rows of bottles of alcohol rising behind the bartender like a glass pipe organ?

Regardless of what kind of drinks are being served, from standard beer to specialty martinis, the design and décor of a bar is part of its character. Whether you want to build a small bar in your home or you’re planning to remodel a commercial bar or pub, the furniture you pick is essentially the foundation for the atmosphere. And, if you are creating an updated sports bar or a lounge, the furniture is going to be different for both.
