Wegner Woodworkings Interview

By Interviewer at 01/17/08 11:44

Name of your website?

Wegner Woodworkings

Your name?

Neal Wegner

Your Location (city, etc)

Zumbrota

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Unique, handcrafted woodworking, woodturning, and custom furniture products.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I've been looking for other ways to advertise the products I produce to potentially increase sales.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

This is my first website. It was launched in 2006.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Having the last name of Wegner, and woodworking starts with the same letter. I know, it's not a process that I had to put alot of effort into.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

I think all woodworkers have something individually unique to offer to customers to meet the customers unique preferences.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

To achieve an income where I could give up sandblasting and painting bridges, so that I can concentrate all my effort and work toward owning a business to share my talents with others.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

I'm willing to invest as much time as it takes to reach my goals. As far as having the finances to meet this goal is something I continue to strive for; mostly for materials. I think once I can get recognized, I'll have the potential to accomodate the loss of time and money invested thus far.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I'd acquire all the essential tools and materials required to unlimit my capabilities. Perhaps invest in a shop to allow more room for tools, equipment, and projects. And to help advertise my services.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

I think once the ball got rolling, so to speak, I would be able to find the help to keep up with the demand without compensating quality, which I believe is very important.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

I've actually invested some time to research this issue, and purchased books with information that will help me identify these kinds of issues.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Finding customers that are willing to pay for one-of-a-kind quality work.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

I haven't really invested any money promoting the site due to the lack of funds.Understandably, it seems everyone that can promote a website also need their funding.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

I assumed that I would have more traffic to my site by submitting it to search engines.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I actually started the website with freewebs.com in 2006. I'm sorry the latter portion of the question doesn't fit in the question box.

Am I able to produce custom cabinets?

Yes. If given the dimensions and a description of one's liking, I posess the capabilities to fabricate the product to the customers preferences to meet their expectations and hopefully meet their satisfaction.

What is your website address?
