Temporary Living and Antiques, the Match Made in History

By Brian White at 05/31/07 09:28
If you're moving somewhere, overseas or across the country, and it's too far to take your furniture, you're going to have to stock your house with couches, chairs and dressers in order to live. I had a friend who moved to China for three-years, and he couldn't afford the cheap, disposable stuff. Instead of $1,000 worth of garbage, he bought $5,000 worth of antiques.

China's laws are sticky when it comes to taking antiques out of the country, but he didn't want to do that. That's okay, he never wanted to. Instead he lived with the finest, most exquisite furniture for three-years, and when it came time to move, sold it all back onto the market at a $1,000 profit.

If you can afford to front the extra couple grand, and can be cautious in buying and selling, you can have amazing, historic furniture, and not just for free, but for less than free… for a profit.
