Some of the Iceberg Enterprises products are noted as having Resinite construction. For those of you wondering what this means I have attempted to share what I found out.The desks are made using a plastic material called HDPE, or High Density Polyethylene and include reinforcement bars of steel under the panels or tabletop. The combination of the plastic and steel is what Iceberg calls Resinite. Resin is the raw material used with pigments and other materials that becomes HDPE. The desktops are foam filled for additional strength.
This durable and attractive office furniture from Iceberg, with the exception of the Aspira Wood pieces, are great for "clean environments" like hospitals because they can be disinfected easily. And of course, if they are good for clean rooms, they would also be good for areas that children wander in because they wipe down easily. We have all been there who have children right?
The Resinite furniture is durable and resists dents, scratches, and chipping.
The desk inlays are made of polystrene, another form of plastic.
