Leather and Vinyl MD Interview

By Interviewer at 02/19/09 11:15

Name of your website?

Leather and Vinyl MD

Your name?

Anne Franciscy

Your Location (city, etc)

United States

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Provides information about our leather and vinyl cleaning and repair services. It also offers a Free "Guide to buying leather furniture" which matches leather finishes to different lifestyles and requirements, as well as some background to the production of upholstery leather. Leather cleaning kits and supplies are also available

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I felt that the web was the best place to advertise. More and more people are using it to find what they want and you can offer far more information about your company than you can with other meathods i.e. yellow pages, flyers

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

It is a clean and attractive site - not busy with stuff all over the page. Our "Guide to Buying Leather Furniture" includes an easy to use chart that helps consumers match leather finishes to their requirements. Most people don't know that different leathers have very different care and maintenance requirements and that some leather finishes make the furniture unsuitable for families with small children or pets.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

We started franchising our company just recently and already our first franchise has opened in the Triad area of North Carolina. Our goal is to open more franchises in other states as we get calls from all over the country.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

SEO is much more involved than I thought it would be when I first started.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

There is a lot more to it than I expected.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

About 5-6 years, but during the first few years I didn't do much except set up the site. I do a lot more to maintain it and develop it now.

What is your website address?

Leather and Vinyl MD
