What, exactly, is a dinette set used for? It is too informal for a fancy meal or gathering but is more intimate than a regular meal at a table or restaurant booth. A wheeled chair would probably be better suited for an at-home dinette set, rather than several dinette sets in a dining area of a restaurant.
Bistro and gaming sets are variations on typical dinette sets. A bistro set has the same purpose as a regular dinette set – more intimate dining but less formal – but has only two chairs with a table. A bistro set is typically made from Italian furniture pieces, metal or wood, and has a more upscale vibe than a standard dinette set. In addition, the chairs in a bistro set often have support for the hips and back. A game table, on the other hand, is almost always made out of wood and has one purpose – to be a gathering spot for a game night, be it a card game or gambling. Aside from the wood, the table has a felt-covered top with a border, which is ideal for most card games.
A dinette set can also come with a theme to coordinate the table and chairs and, in some cases, to seem more festive. One popular theme is tropical dinette sets, which has chairs backed by palm leaves carved from wood or a large pineapple supporting a table top. For an outdoor patio, particularly for a summer party, such furniture would be more appropriate.
