Imagine It Wood Interview

By Interviewer at 08/17/07 14:24

Name of your website?

Imagine It Wood

Your name?

Cindy Clark

Your Location (city, etc)

Livermore

Please give us a short summary of your website?

We specialize in handcrafted log home lighting and handmade rustic lamp shades. We also carry a large selection of rustic home accessories.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

The love of working with wood. Encouragement from friends and family.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

April 1, 2006 It is a website that sells handcrafted log furniture and home accessories.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Wanted something catchy, so I just put my mind to work thinking of names that people might remember.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

Quality handcrafted one of a kind items. Lower prices then competitors.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

To keep it and watch it grow.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

I have not achieved success yet, as I have only been in business a little over a year. My investment of time and money have been costly, but you can't expect to build a business without these two important factors.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would do a tremendous amount of advertising. And buy some much needed new power tools for my shop.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

I believe I could keep up with the demand. I would surely give it my best shot.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Shipping my products has been an unforeseen cost, and sometimes a headache. The cost to ship items is incredibly expensive. And I don't think that customers realize just how costly this can be.

What has been your biggest challenge?

My biggest challenge has been: Building my page ranking, so that people will find my website in the search engines.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Search Engine Optimization, building my page ranking and good content on my website.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

Much more time consuming then I had ever imagined. It's been a challenge, but I have learned so much about websites. There is so much involved in running your own website. It's not at all like the old saying "If you build it, they will come", there is so much work and upkeep involved.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I have run my site for almost a year and four months. I will continue to rum my site as long as I possibly can.

What are the most important factors in building a successful business?

Hard work, determination, personal service and ALWAYS delivering my products on time.

What is your website address?
