Woodcrafts Interview

By Interviewer at 04/26/08 09:19

Name of your website?

Woodcrafts

Your name?

Liz Mason

Your Location (city, etc)

Martindale Eastern Cape

Please give us a short summary of your website?

We hand craft solid wood home decor and custom furniture. We only use solid wood and as everything is hand crafted no two items will ever be identical twins.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

To gain business.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

I can't remember. It was so long ago.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

The name fits the product.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

I do marketing and I also give my clients the special attention they desire. Ours is all custom work, therefore we carry little or no stock on hand.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

To have my products in every house and or office worldwide.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

I put in a lot of time and effort into the products and I am always adding something new that is hand crafted with wood.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

Hard to answer, as I have never had this problem.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

I would be smiling all the way to the bank and I would be able to hire employees to take the pressure off me, but I would still be doing most of the work as I enjoy what I do.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Getting things to fit exactly as they should.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Learning metric measures instead of standard.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Daily marketing via the web and by word of mouth.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

I had hoped for more clients. I don't have a problem getting people to the site, I would love to have just one order from each that have visited. Most just look and wish, but not order.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

It has been up now for a little over a year and it will continue as long as I am in business.

Why Wood?

Because I like to give life back to the trees that have been taken from the forests.

What is your website address?

Woodcrafts
